This gearbox support plate fits onto the chassis, is secured with 4 screws and supports the rubber mounting which then supports the gearbox. This part is fitted to all TR2-3B with or without overdrive (A type). We have good second hand parts and powder coated second hand parts when new parts are not available.

There are two types of TR2-4 support plate which are similar but no the same. The TR2-3B gearbox is shorter than the TR4 gearbox therefore the two holes for the gearbox rubber mounting are further back on the TR4 plate. The following dimensions, whilst not deadly accurate will help to identify the plates. 

Earlier cars TR2-3B use plate part number 106073 which has the two holes for the rubber mounting 7/8" (22.2mm) from the two rear chassis mounting holes.   

Later cars i.e.TR4 use plate part number 128055 which has the two holes for the rubber mounting 7/16" (11.1mm) from the two rear chassis mounting holes. 

When a later 4 synchromesh gearbox is installed in a TR2-3B the later plate will be needed.

TR4A-6 used a different chassis with yet another plate 218278, incompatible with earlier TR2-4 cars.
