Triumph for a time during TR4 production used different rear springs for the drivers (part number 208636) and the passenger side of the car (part number 208637). There is in fact NO difference in rate between these springs but the 208637 spring has two packers on the centre pin above the main leave rather than the one only fitted to the 208636 spring. This would effectively lower the car on the passenger's side by about 6mm! Presumably Triumph did this to even up the car with only one person in it, but this takes no account of what happens when you load the car.

The parts book, and therefore our website (where the information is a reproduction of the original parts book), shows the change points where these springs were used; notably almost all of Right Hand Drive production used the same spring both sides.

Needless to say we only produce one standard rate spring 208636 and this is offered for use on both sides of the car.

All of this changed at commission number CT23383 when the deep dish spring 209964 was introduced.
