COUPLING STRG COL TR4, 4A, 250, 5 & EARLY 6
IN STOCK This part is immediately available
Rubber steering Coupling. This part is similar to the original TR4 to early 6 coupling (original part number 130044 which is no longer available) but is 26mm deep whereas the original part is 33mm deep. We recommend new complete shaft and joints assembly RTR3634-AK (TR4-4A) and RTR3634-BK (TR250,5 and 6) which replaces the dozen or so individual parts in the original assembly.
Assembly Tip
The special bolts used to secure the coupling are part number 128323 which are drilled for locking wire. The bolt spacing is 50mm. This coupling, by the very nature of being rubber can have variable mounting hole spacing and is almost always larger than 50mm as it is preferable to have the rubber in compression rather than in tension. To fit, place a 'Jubilee' type hose clip around the outside of the coupling and tighten it until the bolts can be inserted. Remove the clip afterwards of course.
Alternatives
You can use the later TR6 part 150696, which is the correct thickness at 33mm but you will need four cap bolts per unit 150697 as these later couplings are counter-bored to accept these fasteners.
If you are competition minded, then solid universal joint 145377 can be used instead of the rubber coupling and its adapters with a TR4 shaft (not a TR250, 5 and 6 shaft) but this is pretty pointless as we now strongly recommend new complete shaft and joints assemblies RTR3634-AK andRTR3634-BK which replaces the dozen or so individual parts in the original assembly.
