TR4A, 250, 5 and 6 Forward Deck Panel assembly Right Hand. This is the thin panel that runs from behind the door to the centre deck panel including the triangular panel and hood catch plate 708094

This panel (sometimes referred to as the forward tonneau panel) as a skin only, forms part of full deck assembly 808776 (TR4A-5) which consisted of 5 pieces, two forward, two rear (either side of the boot lid) and a centre panel. It also forms part of 813959 (TR6) deck assembly which consisted of 3 panels, two forward and a centre panel.
Triumph, never slow to make things complicated, offered panel 815522 as an assembly consisting of the skin 813709 along with the triangular panel and hood catch plate 708094 which bridged the gap from the deck to the rear inner wing as well as the skin only. 815522 is occasionally available but the skin 813709 and the triangular panel assembly 708094 are available separately on a regular basis.

Finally there is the TR4. We have so far not come across a part number for the equivalent of 813709 or 815522 and can only assume the forward panel for TR4's was only ever available as part of the complete deck. However the difference between the TR4 and later TR4A-6 panels is slight. When the TR4 was released the forward deck panel's top face followed the design of the prototype Zoom insofar as it is the same width along its length. This allowed the hood frame assembly to easily fold down inside the cockpit and the backlight frame on hard top cars to be bolted through the deck panel all the way round. With the coming of the TR4A the hood frame became bulkier and would not fit between the forward deck panels so Triumph modified the design to be wasted to afford clearance. It also meant that one stud either side of the backlight frame on hard top cars would now pass down beside the deck panel (nearly) rather than through it and invariably required adjustment at the factory with a well-aimed bash with a hammer to get the backlight frame to fit. It's true - honest! What this means to TR4 owners is that panel 813709 will fit hardtop cars with no visible difference when the car is complete and can be fitted to soft top cars with suitable alteration.
