TR6PI and carb engine number CC75000 to 75737 and CP75000 to 77718.
This set consists of: -
12 x spring part number 157229
The following standard components are used with this spring set: -
12 x Lower collar part number 115118
6 x Upper collar, inlet only part number 111870 (consider using aluminium cap RTR1180)
6 x Upper collar inner, exhaust only part number 128334 (consider using aluminium cap RTR1180)
6 x Upper collar outer, exhaust only part number 128335 (consider using aluminium cap RTR1180)
Triumph used 4 different valve spring arrangements on the TR250, 5, 6; single springs and double springs used with different arrangements of collars top and bottom.
Please see the sets listed below to identify what is correct for your engine.
Fitted length at full lift must be checked to ensure springs do not become coil bound.
These high quality spring sets are recommended for Standard and Fast Road camshaft applications when the engine will only be revved to 6000 RPM.
General notes
When installing a new cam and/or refurbishing the cylinder head with new valves it is important to ensure the spring pressure is correct for the cam being used and the rev range expected. In addition it is imperative that the springs do not become coil bound on full lift. To ensure this the springs may need to be shimmed or alternative longer/shorter springs chosen. If in doubt purchase a new set of springs. Revington TR offer a range of standard and uprated springs, see below.
Excessive cam wear will occur if springs which are too strong are used. Only use the lowest rate springs required to ensure no valve bounce. This in many cases would mean a high quality standard set.
As a guide 80lb seat pressure and 190lb full lift pressure is normal. For big valves and high lift coupled with high revs, 90lb and 230lb absolute maximum might be reached but this would be in a race situation where the components would be expected to be worn out quite quickly.
