TR2-6 5 Speed gearbox conversion. RTR can now offer this reliable conversion, saves weight over an overdrive gearbox installation. Consists of used checked out Toyota gearbox, bell housing, annular clutch release kit, clutch plate, casting for reuse of original gear leaver, rear mounting bracket to chassis for either early TR2-6 chassis or later TR6 chassis and speedo cable.
You will need to change the diaphragm clutch cover. A new unit will avoid any mismatch with the new annular release kit (the old cover will have grooved fingers as a result of operating on the currently installed release bearing). You will need to change to a raised finger diaphragm TR4A-6 type clutch cover. Order part number GCC228RF. You can use the opportunity to fit one of our lightweight aluminium TR4A flywheels (order RTR1011), which matched this cover. The clutch driven plate and release parts are included in the kit. Also, the speedometer will need to be recalibrated. Comprehensive instructions are included which cover this.
