This new version of our popular 5-speed conversion based on the Toyota Celica gearbox, retains the Toyota hydraulic slave cylinder, lever and release mechanism and is suitable for TR2, 3, 3A, 3B and Italia.

The kit includes a thoroughly checked Toyota 5 speed gearbox with new oil seals front and back, a new top cover which positions the gear leaver in the correct 'TR' position, a chrome gear leaver of the correct TR type, bell housing, mountings to the chassis, propshaft adoption kit, splined output shaft and all necessary fittings. The clutch driven plate and release parts are included in the kit too as are comprehensive fitting instructions.
Owners will need to change to a diaphragm TR4A-6 type clutch cover. This is not included in the kit as there are road and sport variations. Order part number GCC228 for road cars or see section 1 of our web catalogue for sport variations. It will be necessary to have the flywheel redrilled to accept the later clutch type. You can use the opportunity to fit one of our lightweight aluminium TR4A flywheels (order RTR1011), which matched this cover. (TR2-3 owners with 'bomb' starters would need to change to a later TR3A-4A type 202791 or a geared starter RTR8201K). Also, the speedometer will need to be recalibrated.
