Trailing arm adjustable bracket kit suitable for TR4A-6 independent rear suspension.
This kit allows for infinity variable (within a reasonable range) adjustment of camber toe and thrust line of the rear wheels of TR4A-6 with independent rear suspension. Triumph made provision in the original design for toe and thrust line adjustment by means of adding or subtracting shims from between the standard brackets and the chassis leg. No provision was made for camber adjustment.
There are two reasons that camber might need to be adjusted: -
1. A rebuilt or damaged chassis not allowing the wheels to sit at the correct angle,
2. And a none standard setting being required for competition or fast road use with modern tyres.
It is possible to get some good results with the 3 types of brackets that were used during the production run of all the relevant cars, TR4A, TR250, TR5 and TR6 by swapping them around and even inverting them, however the difference between one bracket and the next most suitable can be as much as 3°.
This kit allows for variation of both Toe in (and at the same time thrust line) and camber adjustment by the simple expedient of turning the eccentric bolt captivations. Once the correct settings are achieved the nut is locked off and the setting is fixed.
A special spanner is provided which allows both sides of the adjusting mechanism to be altered at the same time, thus ensuring perfect alignment.
This kit ensures the bushes in the trailing arms remain in line in any camber position, something no other kit can offer.
