The quirky name of this excellent engine oil hides its real benefits available to all car owners. We at Revington TR continue to be impressed by No Smoke oil as it has significant benefits other than its ability to reduce engine smoke.
Neil Revington took part in the Targa Tasmania stage rally in 2019 where the oil performed well and was commented on repeatedly by his navigator for its ability to maintain oil pressure. The oil pressure was maintained over 6 days of constant stage rallying, 6 stages a day, some 50km long. The pressure never dropped and tick over pressure was good immediately after being thrashed within an inch of its life, in fact higher than with any other oil we have used and we have used some of the best. The oil was clean and bright after the event.
In the workshop we are finding that engines with low tick over pressure are miraculously improved with usually a 20 psi increase. This is true of Neil's own road TR5 which has a very old but good condition engine meaning it has worn bearings but still performs well. The engine was running on a well known 20-70 oil in an effort to try and maintain oil pressure. Recently Neil took the car to Devon and experienced 20-30 psi lower than spec. oil pressure when running on the open road after the motorway run and only about 10-20 psi at tick over. After this run the car was converted to No Smoke oil and immediately, such a run would show 60 psi at 2000 rpm (the spec. is 70 psi) and tick over of 40 psi.
These are the benefits you our customer will immediately see, but just as importantly your car will be lubricated better for a longer life by a superior oil.
As the oil's name suggests, if you have an engine that produces smoke and will fail its annual emissions inspection then you will need to use no smoke oil.
