TR2-3B bonnet with Louvers
This fibreglass bonnet has a set of louvers either side of the centre line in the central raised portion of the bonnet. This bonnet is a skin only and will need to be fixed to the customers own frame if required.
Alternatively the bonnet can be supplied with an internal frame similar to original at extra cost. The total cost will be the same as part number RTR7047-1.
The louvers are moulded into the bonnet but NOT cut out; they can be left as supplied (not cut out) if the louvered bonnet is being fitted for looks only, however if the louvered bonnet is being fitted to assist cooling then the slits at the back of each louver will need to be cut out before painting. Rain will have a small chance of entering the engine bay especially if the rain is from the rear when the car is stationary, however as the openings are at the back of each louver no rain will get in when the car is on the move.
FAQ.
1. Q. Will the bonnet fit straight onto my car?
A. The bonnet will be made from a mould that has been taken from a TR2-3A bonnet that is a generally good fit in a few cars and conforms to the generally accepted dimensions for the TR2-3A bonnet. All cars are slightly different shapes and sizes and as TR s were not built to the same standards as more modern cars, the bonnet may need the edges filed or filled to get the best fit. A competent body shop man will know all this as it is normal practice; it should also be borne in mind that the original metal bonnet could be bent to ensure best fit in the hole; fibreglass cannot be bent in the same way.
It is quite likely your car will have been rebuilt at some time and possibly with reproduction panels so Revington cannot say what size the hole is this bonnet has got to fit into. If you have high expectations that this bonnet will just drop straight into the place where the old bonnet did, then you must reconsider as this is unlikely; whilst possible, it is more likely that some adjustment will be necessary.
