CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
New stainless steel Bumper Set for Triumph TR6 Late version by Harrington. This set does not have the holes in the rear bumper to accommodate the number plate illumination lamp as this car has the lamps in the rear valence.
This kit consists of 1 front bumper, 1 rear bumper centre section without number plate lamp holes (the photographs show the rear bumper with these holes, but they are not present when we supply a bumper set under this part number. See the photograph with the holes circled in red for clarification) and 2 rear bumper side sections with mounting bolts to attach the front bumper and rear bumper to the body/ support irons. Please note the bolts provided are metric and only attach the bumpers to the body/support irons. If the hardware needed to attach the rear bumper sections together to the support springs is not to hand or needs replacing, order mounting kit RTR7032K for the front bumper and RTR7033K for the rear. See below
General information
These bumpers are made from stainless steel, the perfect material to produce bumpers from; they are replicas of the originals, so the shape, fit, and dimensions should be a reasonable facsimile of the original parts
The high grade of stainless steel used (304/1.4301/7) is polished to a mirror finish and is surprisingly similar in appearance to chrome plating.
Some of the reasons for choosing these bumpers are:
1: Stainless steel NEVER rusts or corrodes. Even if submerged in salt water for many years- it would come out needing merely a re-polish, but would be in otherwise exactly the same condition as when submerged.
2: Stainless steel is an easily workable material. If a chrome plated bumper is dented or bent it can be difficult and costly to repair; it will need stripping of its old chrome, beating back to shape then re-chroming. By comparison a stainless steel bumper if it sustains damage can be reshaped by an experienced panel beater then re-polished using metal polish and an orbital polisher.
3: The tensile strength of stainless steel is tougher than that of chrome plated mild steel, which means the bumpers can withstand damage marginally better.
Other advantages:
1: These bumpers never rust and are backed with a lifetime anti-corrosion warranty. The manufacturers say "We are happy to put our money where our mouth is on this! Just think- should your bumpers ever rust- we will send you new ones"
2: These bumpers are made from the thickest gauge of stainless steel possible considering they need to be pressed and formed. The grade of stainless steel used (304/ 1.4301) consists of about 1/5 pure Chrome.
2: Painted back - The back of the bumpers are acid etch primed and painted with ICI two pack paint in black.
