LOOM UPRATED TR2-6 LH & RHD
CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE
Complete car loom for road, fast road or rally use. TR2-6. This loom provides all the services you would ever need. Click the 'More About This Part' tab for the full story.
The loom has been designed as a universal loom that provides all the standard services with the benefit of extra relays and fuses. Whist originally designed as a rally loom, in fact the loom is now fitted mostly to road going cars where reliability is favoured and extra services need powering which this loom will cater for.
The loom includes dedicated wiring for:-
- All the original cars services
- Separately fused and relayed headlamps, spot lamps,
- interior lights, reverse lights, boot light,
- electric fuel pumps, logic overdrive device, intermittent wipe and much much more.
- A full list of the services covered by this loom can be found in our information sheet IS0029 downloadable here, or from the 'Further Reading' tab. This information sheet should be used to identify extra equipment you might choose to purchase with the loom.
Whilst the loom was originally designed for TR4-4A, it has been successfully been fitted to many TR5-250 and TR6 and can easily be adapted to fit TR2-3B (A few wires may need extending at the rear of the car). It has also been fitted to many other cars of the period of similar size, as the layout is likely to be very similar. The break ours (where spurred exit the main loom) are for instance, in the case of the area behind the dashboard, located in the centre with spur lengths long enough to reach the extremities of the dashboard, so that left and drive and right hand drive cars can be accommodated as well as customer choice of dial and switch positioning.
A Gearbox loom is included. Owners of USA TR6 models with seat mat/starter relays; ballast coils, control modules and hazard lights will need to retain the original wiring elements for these services from the original loom.
Headlamps have separate wires for each filament. All major services are Relay operated. (Relays not supplied; 8 required RTR8012). Wire current carrying capacities are increased where appropriate for extra reliability and provision is made for a 65-amp alternator.
A special mount is available part number RTR8500 to support the relays and fuse boxes. See belowWhy Should I Pay So Much for a Loom?:
Whilst this loom may seem expensive it is worth noting that most road cars these days have got some additional equipment that requires electrical power, which would need to be wired in separately, in addition to a standard loom. This of course caries a cost with it.Additionally TR's 2-6 have a serious deficiency in the fusing and relaying department, as this loom provides built in wiring to power almost every conceivable feature that a modern TR driver may require, for both road and rallying use, without the need for expensive additional wiring, then this loom, on a total cost basis, is invariably the cheaper option.
