Body shell Italia, aluminium, complete with doors, bonnet and boot lid.

This shell is a facsimile of the original Italia formed on a buck taken from an original Italia. This original shell was painstakingly prepared so that the left and right sides were as similar as practical (no mean feat as any Italia owner will tell you - they can be inches out from one sider to the other) and then painted so that a perfectly smooth shell was achieved. From this a fibre glass mould was taken, and from this mound, a buck was produced over which the aluminium panels are formed.
The original production Italia was fitted onto a TR3 chassis. Early cars used unmodified TR3 Chassis with extension plates at the A and B posts, as the Italia body is slightly wider. Later cars were fitted with chassis modified by Vignale such that the tubes at the A and B posts were extended outwards and upwards rather than extension plates being used. The TR2-3B chassis is therefor the obvious choice to use under our aluminium body shell.
However the wider TR4 chassis would also be an easy fit as this chassis is in fact a widened TR3 Chassis and retains most of the original TR3 mounting points. Depending on wheel choice the wheel arches may need to be specified slightly wider. TR4A to TR6 chassis follow the same basic pickup points as the TR4 so these may well be used too with some suitable modification.
Naturally a custom made space frame can also be used.
Please note that Revington TR have only ever used TR2-3B chassis under an Italia bodyshell so the potential use of other chassis is based on our general knowledge of the marques, not specific experience, so if you wish to order a shell and intend to use an alternative TR chassis other than TR2-3B we can accommodate this during the specification process and if practical, build the shell on a suitable chassis.

We can only supply shells in aluminium. We have the tooling to make complete body shells and can therefor make part pieces, but the tooling is such that it will only accommodate aluminium, being softer than steel.

New Italia bodyshells can be shipped anywhere in the world (within reason!) in a wooden skeletal crate. Fro reference the shell dimensions are roughly 3.7m x 1.5m x 1.2m. A quote will be offered at the time of placing an order.
