HEATER VALVES
Revington TR Heater Valves
This simple little device enables sensitive control of cabin heater water flow.
TR2-3Bs don't have a valve accessible from the cockpit at all and TR4-6 owners will be well aware of the shortcomings of the original valve. It is almost impossible to proportionally control the water flow and therefore the heat. Invariably the valve is so stiff that shutting the water off completely is almost impossible (without opening the bonnet and doing it manually).
To resolve these issues RevingtonTR have developed 3 kits which incorporate a clever inline valve (inline meaning it sits in the water hose) and a further kit for TR4-6 which screws directly into the cylinder head adaptor. These valves have a very smooth, friction free operating lever. In addition the internal water flow regulating tumbler has a cleverly designed aperture shape, which means that increase in water flow is proportional to lever movement. The engineers amongst you will know that opening a valve (like a butterfly in a carburettor or a diaphragm used in the TR4-6 heater valve) will have most of the control affected over the first quarter of the movement and very little control over that last quarter of the movement. The internal construction of this new valve goes some considerable way in overcoming this inconvenient phenomenon. There are 4 kits available, the first suits TR2-3B with our Clayton Heater fitted, the second provides an inline valve for TR4-6 with a standard heater fitted, the third kit fits TR2-3B with the standard heater fitted and has enough hoses included to be universal such that it will fit many other cars, the 4th provides a valve that screws into the cylinder head adaptor of TR4-6 providing a TR6 adaptor 148435 is included. The universal kit can be fitted to any car requiring a valve as it includes adaptor hoses to suit 13, 16 and 19mm pipe work as well as a 1m long operating cable.
Whist these valves are available on the general market, the
valve alone is not an attractive proposition as other components are needed to
effect a proper installation. The push on connections are 16mm (5/8") diameter
whereas the TR heater hoses are ½" (12.7mm) and a means of attaching the cable to
the operating post on the valve is required. RevingtonTR kits include all the components to make a
proper installation including conversion hoses and the appropriate cable to
valve post trunnion as well as all other parts needed, with instructions for a comprehensive
installation. Hoses in these kits are made for us by an OEM manufacturer
as are our valves, therefore as with other RevingtonTR product, quality is
Assured.
